Incredibly thankful to my friends and family for pushing me to be more confident in my work. The opportunities I have had as a photographer have been amazing and I am always eager for new ones.
I began in 2020 by taking very crude pictures of plants and animals I saw on my walks around parks or preserves as a way to get fresh air during the shutdown. Over the years, I slowly improved by focusing on individual subjects and portions of larger objects. At first I used an iPhone to do everything, and with the advancements in their camera technology over the years, I was able to do a lot even if the depth in photos was done by software instead of hardware.
I bought my first camera in 2023 as a sophomore in college, largely motivated by my Digital Media Production class. By the end of that fall semester, I was trying out more styles, especially long exposure in an attempt to capture light moving across the frame. The Canon EOS M50 Mark II is one of two cameras I own. On a college budget, it was a great purchase, and I use it often for both photography and videography.
In the fall of 2025, I bought a used camera off Facebook Marketplace: the Canon EOS Rebel T7 came with a 70-300mm lens, finally allowing me to take higher quality portait photos. Between marching band, community events, and trips with friends, I found I preferred photographing people over nature. There is a beauty to the natural world, you can sense the warmth of a sunrise or the coolness of blizzard in a photo. What sets people photography apart is the feeling of emotion, whether it be someone singing into a mic, laughing with a friend, or practicing on a drum you can see the focus and passion in that moment. And those are the moments I want to immortilize.
